A Hint For Great Lent Abstinence from food is not the only way of fasting. No social dancing with music is allowed for Ukrainian Catholics during Lent. Practice Spiritual fasting - fasting from sin. We can fast with our eyes, by giving up the sight of what is unlawful. There is also fasting of the tongue from filthy language, from suggestive stories, from cursing, swearing and from uncharitable talk. Let your ears join in the fasting. Close them to hearing sinful talk, open them to the word of God. This is the kind of fasting that is pleasing to God. |
Try not to be too disappointed that you're not the saint you'd like to be. That you always seem to fall short on your "Lenten resolutions". Learn to be patient with yourself. If you fall down, pick yourself up and try again. Just don't give up trying. In the process make the effort to smile now and then. Do it as an act of gratitude for all that God has given you.
Last but not least. let us avail ourselves of the rich liturgical services during this Lenten period, that our souls may be refreshed by the living waters of these grace filled prayers. Liturgy of the Presanctified gifts is celebrated every Wednesday 7:00 pm and Friday evening 6:00 pm during Lent, with our Sorokousty service-Prayers for the deceased, Friday following Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts

* У часі Великого Посту кожної середи о 7 год. вечора ми будемо мати Літургію Напередосвячених дарів (англійською), кожної п`ятниці о 6 год. вечора буде Літургія Напередосвячених Дарів та Cорокоусти (українською).

* СОРОКОУСТИ – це Богослужіння у часі Великого посту, під час якого читають поминальні молитви за всіх померлих. Якщо ви бажаєте, щоби на цих відправах ми молилися за померлих з вашої родини, то просимо подати нам їхні імена (можна покласти до кошика з недільною тацою, або принести до парафіяльного офісу). Будемо вдячні за ваші пожертви на Сорокоусти. Сорокоусти будемо служити кожної п`ятниці о 6.00 год. вечора.

* SOROKOUSTY: a Lenten service in which prayers of remembrance are offered for all Christians who have died through the years. If you wish the Fathers to pray for your beloved ones, in a separate envelope please drop off only the newly deceased names of your family members that have died in the last year into the Sunday collection plate, and we will add them to the prayers of remembrance. The prayer service is every Friday at 6:00 p.m.
The suggested stipend is $10.00.
