Sunday of the Prodigal Son
Kontakion (tone 3): Foolishly have I fled from Your glory, O Father, wasting the wealth You gave me on vices. Therefore I offer You the words of the Prodigal: Loving Father, I have sinned before You. Take me, for I repent, and make me as one of Your hired hands
In this parable, the father represents God, and the prodigal son — the repentant sinner. Resembling, the prodigal son is every person who in his soul turns away from God and pursues his self-willed, sinful life. By his sins, he destroys his soul and all the gifts: life, health, strength, capabilities — which were bestowed on him by God. When the sinner coming to himself brings to God sincere repentance with humility and hope in His mercy, then the Lord as a compassionate Father rejoices with His angels over the return of the sinner, forgives him all his sins as if they never have been made, and returns to him all His mercy and gifts.
By the story about the elder son, the Savior teaches that all faithful Christians must with all their souls’ desire salvation for everyone and rejoice over the return of the sinner not envying the love that God gives them and not considering themselves more worthy of God’s mercy than the one who returns to God from his former immoral life

Відділи I і II, злучились в один Відділ. 24 січня Членкині зійшлись на річні
збори і вибрали ОДНУ управу “ЛУКЖК Катедра св. Йосафата”. Ми глибоко
вдячні Паням Кассі Ґрецан і Міллі Шітз та всім Членкиням за їхній погляд,
співпрацю і відповідальність. Міллі вибрана на Голову ЛУКЖК і Кассі взяла
на себе відповідальну працю з нашими старшими Членкинями.
Ми вітаємо нову Управу ЛУКЖК і вдячні їм за все.

* Землетрус у Гаїті - наша Едмонтонська Єпархія проводить збірку потерпілим людям в Гіїті через Caritas Канади. Наша Парафія склала пожертву у сумі 1 000$. has elected on January 18 a new Executive for this year. We thank the Brotherhood
for their work and dedication. We congratulate Brother Ron Zapisocki and his

Branches I and II have been unified by the decision of the two Branches. On
January 24 the Members got together and have elected ONE Executive for
St. Josaphat UCWLC. We congratulate the past Leaders of the 2 Branches, Mrs.
Cassie Gretzan and Millie Schietzsch and ALL the Members for their vision,
cooperation and leadership. Millie became the new President and Cassie took
over a highly demanding duty of caring for our Elderly.
We congratulate the UCWLC Executive and thank them for their work.

* Feeding the Hungry A great way to spend part of your St. Valentine's Day. The Eparchial Ukrainian Catholic Youth invite all youth to the chancery Feb 14th at 12:30. We are going to be preparing lunches (putting together sandwiches etc.) and then handing them out to the homeless around the inner city. There will be adult supervision.
