A popular name for Pentecost used by our people is "Zelenyi Svjata"
(Green Holydays). This stems from the custom of adorning the churches
and homes with green foliage (preferably linden branches) and grass in
celebration of the feast. The green color of the foliage was accepted by
our people as a symbol of divine life brought to us by the Holy Spirit.
For this reason also, the clergy wear green vestments for the liturgical
services on Pentecost and its post-festive period.
Since we were created to God’s "image and likeness" (Gen. 1:26),
and received the Holy Spirit at the time of our Chrismation
(Confirmation), by living our life in Him we gradually restore our human
nature to its pristine perfection. Justly, therefore, the Eastern
Fathers of the Church call the process of our growing in the divine life
our deification or divinization. And this we achieve only by our
cooperation with the Holy Spirit Who sustains us and makes us grow in
the divine life. Therefore, with piety and devotion, let us constantly
implore Him with the well known Prayer to the Holy Spirit extensively
used by our people:
Heavenly King, Comforter, the spirit of truth, You are everywhere present and fill all things, Treasury of blessings and Giver of life, come and dwell within us, cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls, 0 gracious Lord.

Третю Особу Божу –
Cвятого Духа, що безнастанно дає силу і провід Cвятій Xристовій Церкві.

Недільна школа при на шій парафії завершує свою
програму. В імені Парафії складаємо найщирішу подяку пані Мілі Шітс та всім
вчителям англомовної групи, пані Касі, сестрі Еммануїлі та іншим учителькам
за їхню працю для нашої молоді. Дорогим Батькам подяка за те, що вони
привозили дітей. Cьогодні буде заключний концерт в церкві та зустріч у
авдиторії Парафії.

Today we celebrate the holy feast
of Pentecost, when Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles.
In the Ukrainian old tradition the feast is calls Zeleni sviata
(Green feast), when the nature is blooming and the trees are green.
This day is dedicated to the Descent of the Holy Spirit, who provides the wisdom to all of us.

The Ukrainian Catholic Council and its constituent members would like

person. Deadline for purchasing tickets is May 26. There will be no tickets
sold at the door.

* The Sunday School is wrapping up its program for the year. On behalf of the parish we would like to thank Mrs. Millie Schietzsch and other English teachers, Kasia Antoszko, and Sr. Emmanuela and all the other teachers for their work with our young people. We thank the parents for bringing their children to the program. Today there will be a final concert and meeting in the church Auditorium.

is with great joy that we share the good news about a parish vocation. Emily
Schietzsch, daughter of Alan and Millie Schietzsch, will be entering the
novitiate of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate on September 8 in
Saskatoon.
Dear
Emily, You have chosen to follow in the footsteps of our devoted Sisters
Servants who have done so much good for our Church and people. Come to know
yourself and understand that every day of our life is a new opportunity for
service. Know also that you will be serving God and He will never abandon
you. May you grow in God’s wisdom to honor Virgin Mary, Mother of God, to
